Gaisce - 29.11.12
The other day I have applied for Gaisce. In Gaisce you have to do 13 weeks of a physical skill, 13 weeks of a personal skill and 13 weeks of volunteering. You than pick one of them to do for an extra 13 weeks. At the end you do a 26 mile hike!
So for my physical skill I am doing camogie as I have gone up to the u16 team.
For my personal skill I am doing lifesaving as I am starting Rescue 1 my fourth exam.
For volunteer work I am going to do underage coaching for the younger camogie team.
Teddy?
Finally my teddy bear is starting to take shape, slowly but surely. I have finished making the arms, the legs, the body and the ears. All I have left to do is the head and to put all the limbs together and in no time I will have my teddy done. As soon as he is finished I will put up some photos to show you all how he went.

Lollipop Day!
Last Friday was Lollipop Day. All of TY went into town. We were in groups of 4 and all groups were assigned an area. We all had buckets full of Lollipops and badges. They were €2 each.
Around lunch time all the buskers started setting up. There was a wide variety of street performers. Everything from trumpets to leprauchans to Singers to Drum kits made from plastic containers. We had great fun. By the end of the day we couldn't feel out feet, it was so cold. All in all we had a blast.

Jabba Jabba Jembe!!

Shekere |
.
A percussion workshop. Yesterday Dave came into our school and showed us the fine art of Jembe drums. He told some interesting facts about them. We all learned how to hit the drum to get various sounds. He than taught us some songs that we could play on them. Two girls were on base, six girls were on shekere.
He than showed uas how to use the asalato. I LOVED them.
Home Ec.
Every week in Home Ec. we cook. We have made loads of delicious food and desserts. I think that my favourite was the Risotto. We had a simple recipe, but the end result was mouth watering. We have also made profiteo rolls which surprisingly turned out really well. I would never have attempted them at home, but cooking them in school showed me just how quick and easy it can be to make them.

Cassette Tape Portraits
In art we are doing cassette tape portraits. We take a photo of someone we like and we put it into a software that makes a black and white image of it. We print that off. From that image we draw an outline. We shade in the area that will be covered in film. Once the outline is done we get the cassette tape and pull the film out. We fill in the shaded area. We cut up the film to fit the size of the area we wish to fill. I am doing the photo of Audrey Hepburn \/
